Speaker - Past District Governor Doug Vincent
We were very happy to welcome PDG Doug last week to give us some history on the association between Rotary and the United Nations.
One of Rotary's major causes is to promote Understanding and World Peace, so when US President Roosevelt and UK Prime Minister Churchill had the idea of starting the United Nations, they wanted Rotary to be involved. When UN was established in 1945, there were 49 Rotarians who participated at the Charter meetings.
This year, Rotary will be proud to celebrate 75 years of service to mankind with its founding contribution and partnership with the United Nations.
Thank you Doug, for your knowledge of everything Rotary, and for your many years of bringing our exchange students to the UN every November.
